The speed limit on a section of Kingaroy\u2013Barkers Creek Road near Kingaroy will be lowered by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

An 80km\/h speed limit will be implemented on a section from Tessmanns Road in Kingaroy to just past North Branch Road at Booie.<\/p>\n

Several serious crashes have occurred along that stretch in recent years, including a head-on crash in 2012 in which five people were injured and a fatal collision in December last year.<\/p>\n

Transport and Main Roads Regional Director Southern Queensland Bill Lansbury said the reduction in speed would improve motorists’ safety.<\/p>\n

“Our safety team undertook a review of the speed limit taking several important factors into account including crash history, traffic volumes, types of road users, the geography of the road and its role in the road network,” Mr Lansbury said.<\/p>\n

“The findings were presented to the local Speed Management Committee, consisting of representatives from TMR, Queensland Police Service and South Burnett Regional Council, which endorsed the reduced speed limit.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Lansbury urged all motorists to look out for the new speed signs and be aware of the changed 80km\/h speed limit.<\/p>\n

“I also want to remind motorists to always drive to the conditions and reduce their speed in wet weather or other adverse conditions,” he said.<\/p>\n

The reduced speed limit is scheduled to be implemented by the end of 2021, weather and conditions permitting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
