Stanwell staff worked alongside QFES firefighters to extinguish a fire in a coal feeder at Tarong Power Station on Tuesday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A fire in a coal feeder at Tarong Power Station had emergency services scrambling on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Seven fire crews were called about 11:25pm to the complex and worked alongside Stanwell operations staff to control the flames.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said the fire was fully extinguished by 5:00am.<\/p>\n

The QFES firefighters left the site about 5:20am.<\/p>\n

QAS paramedics also responded and remained on standby, but were not required.<\/p>\n

A Stanwell spokesperson said six coal pulverisers service the Tarong and Tarong North power stations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These pulverisers are each supplied with coal from a 500 tonne bunker, delivered via a coal feeder.<\/p>\n

The small fire occurred inside one of these coal feeders, which was not in use at the time.<\/p>\n

“No one was injured in the incident and there has been no serious damage to the power station plant and no impact to security of supply,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
