Murgon State High School and Kilkivan P-10 are among 50 Queensland State Schools which will have a GP allocated to them next year as part of a State Government pilot program.<\/p>\n

The list of schools was announced on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Education Minister Grace Grace said she expected all the GP clinics to be running by May 2022.<\/p>\n

Appointments will be organised by an administration officer at the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cOriginally, the GP pilot program was designed to base GPs at 20 State secondary schools,” Minister Grace said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe asked schools to register their interest to participate in this program and we were inundated with requests which is why we\u2019ve expanded it to 50.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThese schools are spread across the length and breadth of the State and I have no doubt the GP service will make a big difference to each and every one of them.”<\/p>\n

Mabel Park State High School has been successfully trialling the program for the past two years.<\/p>\n

A GP visits the school once a week for free consultations with students.<\/p>\n

Principal Mick Hornby told ABC Radio the program had been a huge success and the GP had become part of the school community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
