Remembrance Day (November 11) is always a big day at Boondooma Homestead but this year’s commemoration promises to be even more special for some local families.<\/p>\n

Twelve more plaques commemorating the World War I service of local residents will be unveiled on the day.<\/p>\n

Judy Brandt, secretary of the Boondooma Museum & Heritage Association, is inviting descendants of the following soldiers to come along to the service:<\/p>\n

  • Bernard Clarence Stockill<\/li>\n
  • Harry Appleby Stockill<\/li>\n
  • William Edward Tregurtha<\/li>\n
  • John Albert Berry<\/li>\n
  • William Graves Irwin Forster<\/li>\n
  • Charles Harper<\/li>\n
  • Thomas William Charles\u00a0Hampshire<\/li>\n
  • Robert Cecil Bracken<\/li>\n
  • Martin Henry Comerford<\/li>\n
  • Sydney Shaw<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    “This is also an opportunity to\u00a0remember those whose plaques\u00a0are already on the wall,” Judy said.<\/p>\n

    The plaques recognise the service of soldiers\u00a0who fought in World War I and had a\u00a0connection to the original Boondooma\u00a0Station.<\/p>\n

    The memorial wall has been\u00a0funded by the State Government,\u00a0South Burnett Regional Council, Boondooma Museum\u00a0& Heritage Association, and the Federal Government’s “Saluting Their Service” grants program.<\/p>\n

    Boondooma Homestead is located at\u00a08262 Mundubbera-Durong Road,\u00a0Boondooma.<\/p>\n

    The Remembrance Day activities will get under way at 9:30am with the commemoration and unveiling of plaques at 10:20am.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This will be followed by a barbecue lunch and entertainment.<\/p>\n
