Wondai’s annual Spring Garden Expo sprang into life again at the weekend, welcoming visitors with perfect Spring weather.<\/p>\n

Organising committee president\u00a0Helen Young said there had been record numbers of visitors and a wonderful display of stalls.<\/p>\n

Both the Autumn and Spring expos last year were cancelled due to the pandemic, but Wondai Garden Expo Inc’s luck changed in 2021 with both events going off without a hitch.<\/p>\n

As usual, stalls filled the Lions Pavilion and stretched around the edges of the Wondai Sportsground oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Helen said it had been a wonderful result all round, with traders reporting record sales and inquiries.<\/p>\n

“All aspects of the Expo were very well supported, and it was obvious that everyone present was taking full advantage of being able to get out and about and enjoy themselves,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis result goes to show that we are justified in working towards holding these events, and the committee is absolutely thrilled by the outstanding success\u00a0 of this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now looking forward to planning for April 2022, which will coincide with the Easter period again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Helen and her husband Noel will be hosting a Spring Garden Fete at their home, ‘Rose Park’, in Proston on Sunday (October 3).<\/strong><\/p>\n

This popular event is being revived after a break of several years.<\/p>\n

The garden was the venue for a number of successful fundraising events in the past.<\/p>\n

Helen said the Lions Club of Proston was looking forward to welcoming everyone from 8:00am.<\/p>\n

Entry is free to all. There will be a number of stalls, including Graham Mitchell, from Clouds End Farm, who will be the guest speaker for the morning.<\/p>\n

There will be plants for sale, and a number of craft stalls including the local QCWA and others.<\/p>\n

Food stalls will be open all morning with tea, coffee, cold drinks, sausage sizzle and hot chips available.<\/p>\n

A multi draw raffle will be drawn at noon.<\/p>\n

Club member Irene McDonald will also have her colourful garden open to visitors between 10:30am-11:30am.<\/p>\n

Funds raised will be used to improve the amenities in the Lions Park garden.<\/p>\n
