A Queen’s Birthday Honour was officially presented to Murgon resident Bevan Routledge in a ceremony at Government House in Brisbane on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Governor Paul de Jersey AC CVO presented Mr Routledge with the Medal of the Order of Australia.<\/p>\n

Mr Routledge was recognised for his service to the community, through leadership roles in District 201Q4 of Lions Clubs Australia, the Murgon Lions Club, and the Murgon Blue Light Disco, and to sport, as president and committee member of the Cloyna Tennis Association and as a volunteer for a range of other community and sporting bodies.<\/p>\n

His OAM was announced in this year\u2019s Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours in June.<\/p>\n

The former Cloyna dairy farmer, who now lives in Murgon, has been a member of the Murgon Lions Club for the past 40 years and has served at the club\u2019s monthly markets for the past 25 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He is also the club\u2019s long-standing secretary and served as the Lions\u2019 District Youth Exchange chairman for many years, along with several other district roles.<\/p>\n

Mr Routledge is also a life member of the Murgon Blue Light Disco Association, has been a junior tennis and junior cricket umpire, and served as secretary and president of the Murgon branch of the Queensland Dairyfarmers Organisation for many years.<\/p>\n

He was also treasurer of the South Burnett Holstein Friesian Association, and in 2017 was one of four nominees for a South Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n

In June, Mr Routledge told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0his principal motivation for more than four decades of service to the Murgon district was to help support an area he loved, and he intends to continue.<\/p>\n
