September 22, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

While some Ekka competitions did not go ahead in 2021, the “Education On Show” section was one of the 17 already judged and hung ready for public viewing before the event was cancelled.<\/p>\n

“Education On Show” is a competition devoted to showcasing work by Queensland students.<\/p>\n

The 2021 competition theme was “Farming: Looking Forward and Looking Back”.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy State Primary School students were invited to create works for the competition.<\/p>\n

Students were sectional winners and took out the early childhood Prep Division.<\/p>\n

The young winners were presented with their awards recently by South Burnett Rural Ambassador Jasmine Firmin and Kingaroy Miss Showgirl – and regional runner-up – Kyla Milne.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I am so passionate about young people in the show scene and love schools who support this,” Jasmine said.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy students applied their rural knowledge and investigated their families\u2019 South Burnett farming history to showcase a personal connection in their entries:<\/p>\n

Matilda Eckart spoke to family relatives and visited the Kingaroy Heritage Museum to research the early peanut industry innovations designed by her great-grandfather Jim Eckhart.<\/p>\n

Aaron Cullen reflected upon the cattle industry and his time with Poppy at the farm to create a paddock-to-plate flowchart.<\/p>\n

Evan Freeman submitted a work with a local touch by creatively photographing his family’s old chisel plough.<\/p>\n
