Murgon Crusaders defeated A Grade newcomers Gympie Royals on Saturday in Round 2 of the Gympie cricket competition.<\/p>\n

Royals won the toss at Murgon Sportsground and batted first.<\/p>\n

At the end of their 40 overs they were 4\/201 with\u00a0M Adeel Abid top-scoring with 58, including six sixes.<\/p>\n

Lovedeep Singh (37),\u00a0Sachith Nanayakkara (32) and\u00a0Abhinav Sharma (32) also added valuable runs.<\/p>\n

Ashley Sippel (2\/23 off eight overs) and Tom Currin (1\/20 off six overs) were the best of the Murgon bowlers.<\/p>\n

In reply, Murgon overtook Gympie’s target in the 37th over for the loss of just one wicket.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Opener Troy Dennien led the way, smashing 14 boundaries – including one six – to finish not out 108.<\/p>\n

Fellow opening bat Kurt McArthur notched up his\u00a0half century, bowled for 52 by\u00a0M Adeel Abid (1\/24 off eight overs).<\/p>\n

Murgon will take on Gympie Valleys next Saturday at Spencer Oval in Gympie.<\/p>\n

Gympie Colts defeated Wooroolin Warriors by nine runs in their A Grade game played in Gympie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wooroolin won the toss and sent Colts in.<\/p>\n

Gympie were all out for 191 in the 36th over.<\/p>\n

Opener Jye Robinson top-scored with 69 before being bowled by Michael Wostear.<\/p>\n

Ben Robinson finished not out 40.<\/p>\n

Wostear took five wickets in his seven overs (5\/20) while Tyler Heness took 3\/45 off 7.5 overs.<\/p>\n

In reply, Wooroolin started well with openers Reginald Wenham (26) and Luke Smith (48) hitting boundaries.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey Rose (29) and Joseph Steinhardt (21) also kept the scoreboard ticking over.<\/p>\n

But Wooroolin ran out of time, with the score at 8\/182 at the end of their 40 overs.<\/p>\n

Next Saturday, Warriors will face Gympie Harlequins at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The two South Burnett teams have now had one win and one loss each in the Gympie competition.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Thomas Currin, Nathan Roderick and Joe Steinhardt were in action for Wide Bay at Maryborough in Round 3 of the\u00a0Lord Taverners Under 16s competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Roderick bowled Wynnum-Manly opener Connor Rudman (63) and finished with figures of 1\/29 off 10 overs.<\/p>\n

Steinhardt was unlucky with the ball (0\/24 off five overs) but took two catches and finished not out 25.<\/p>\n

Wide Bay (7\/220) notched up their second win in the\u00a0Lord Taverners competition downing Wynnum-Manly (5\/217).<\/p>\n

Wide Bay’s Round 4 game will be played on October 3 against University at the UQ Oval at St Lucia.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

South Burnett’s Charlotte Love, Emma Cullen, Abby Burrows and Emma Uebergang were also in action for Wide Bay at the weekend,\u00a0playing in the Under 15s Female Central Challenge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two 20-over games were played at Nambour.<\/p>\n

In the first, Wide Bay defeated Brisbane North. Love retired on 25, not out.<\/p>\n
