CCTV cameras have been installed in the Glendon Street Forecourt and around nearby Council buildings to discourage anti-social behaviour<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

CCTV cameras have been installed around the perimeter of the South Burnett Regional Council administration building, library, hall and forecourt in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Cr Kathy Duff told last week’s Community Standing Committee meeting the security system had been designed to\u00a0enhance community and staff safety and encourage appropriate use of public spaces as well as detect, reduce\u00a0and prevent unlawful and anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n

The former Ambulance building located near the Kingaroy Men’s Shed at Kingaroy Airport<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The historic World War II-era ambulance garage building at Kingaroy Airport is to be demolished.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Duff said that during August, large winds caused further damage to the building.<\/p>\n

Council was told the building was in a very poor condition as white ants had destroyed structural\u00a0timbers, which can no longer hold nails.<\/p>\n

Iron roof sheeting could no longer be secured.<\/p>\n

The building also contains asbestos.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Soaring Club would work closely\u00a0with Council for the building to be safely removed from site.<\/p>\n

Some of the hardwood timber\u00a0and roofing iron removed during the recent demolition of the grandstand at Wondai Showgrounds has been put aside for other projects at the grounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Duff said the Wondai Showground Committee and Race Committee were pleased\u00a0to see the project go ahead and be completed before the next race meeting in October.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Swimming Pool has been emptied for urgent repairs to stop\u00a0water leaks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Duff said the repairs were expected to be completed in time for the opening of the swimming season on September 19.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Council is also working closely with the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the assessment and\u00a0removal of asbestos from its leased building at 195 Kingaroy Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n
