Organisers of Yarraman’s 2021 Show & Shine breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

After having to cancel the event at short notice last year due to the pandemic, Brisbane’s recent lockdown had sparked understandable “on no, not again” concerns among the Show & Shine’s organising committee.<\/p>\n

But as things turned out, by Saturday morning the Brisbane lockdown was largely a memory and the weather gods turned on a perfect Spring day.<\/p>\n

And while proper social distancing and other pandemic safety measures were observed, many of these concerns took a rear seat as guests calmly strolled around the grounds to admire the immaculate array of vehicles on display.<\/p>\n

This year almost 1000 spectators came through the gates at Yarraman’s Recreation Grounds in Margaret Street, along with a display of 45 cars and more than a dozen motorcycles and trikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local children weren’t forgotten either, with a large number of competitors taking part in a “Pimped Pushies” competition for the most imaginatively decorated push bikes.<\/p>\n

Guests on the day could satisfy their hunger at any of seven exotic food stalls, and an on-site licensed bar and barbecue; shop at half a dozen market stalls selling everything from jams and preserves through to motoring accessories; or take time out to explore the Shannon’s Insurance van and play some motoring-themed video games.<\/p>\n

Children could also enjoy a free petting zoo and jumping castle.<\/p>\n

This year’s Show & Shine was the event’s third outing since it began as an add-on to the Colours Of Yarraman festival in 2018, splitting off as a stand-alone event the following year before the COVID pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020.<\/p>\n

But if this year’s roll-up is anything to go by, the Show & Shine appears to have now found a permanent home on Yarraman’s annual event calendar.<\/p>\n

The event was put together by members of the Yarraman Business Group and volunteers, and sponsored by Stanwell Corporation, Bendigo Bank and Shannon’s Insurance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A further 26 businesses from Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy and Moore donated the day’s prizes.<\/p>\n

Tania Paul, from the Yarraman Business Group, said she was delighted the Show & Shine went as well as it did.<\/p>\n

She said the weather on Saturday had been perfect, and she was delighted with the many positive comments visitors made.<\/p>\n

What was even more impressive was that several guests who’d been caught short of a gold coin to cover their entry fee came back later in the day to drop one off when they’d secured some change.<\/p>\n
