The annual exhibition by local artists’ collective Jumping Ant Arts is always worth checking out … and their latest effort at Kingaroy Art Gallery is another winner!<\/p>\n

“Antfest 2021” – which features more than 95 exhibits by a dozen artists – opened on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Works include pen and ink art, ceramics, silver jewellery, recyclable and textile art, as wall as woodcuts, acrylics and digital art.<\/p>\n

Marion Campbell, who performed the official opening, said it was a truly amazing display which demonstrated the talent in the community.<\/p>\n

She also thanked the volunteers from the Kingaroy Arts Team who run the gallery and organise the displays.<\/p>\n

A sub-section of “Antfest 2021” is the Pollinator series, where Jumping Ant Arts members have been challenged to produce a work highlighting nature’s “pollinators” and the issues they face.<\/p>\n

Another special highlight is the Print Room which has been set up with an etching press, on loan from Jumping Ant Arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, September 15, and every Friday during September, members of the public have been invited to come along from 10:00am to 3:00pm and try their hand at plastic dry-point etching.<\/p>\n

Cost is $10 to cover all materials and use of the press.<\/p>\n

Print artists Fran van Vegchel and Carmel Nott will lead the workshops.<\/p>\n

An unusual part of the opening was an auction of a dry point etched print of KCCI president Damien Martoo sketched secretly by artist Judith Brook and turned into a print using Jumping Ant Arts’ equipment … former South Burnett mayor Keith Campbell turned auctioneer for the night to raise funds for the Kingaroy Arts Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
