A woman aged in her 50s has been airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after a horse-riding accident near Kilkivan on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

An LifeFlight spokesperson said it was believed the woman was riding with five others when her horse became spooked by an alpaca in a nearby paddock.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on Rossmore Road, near Cemetery Road.<\/p>\n

The woman is believed to have fallen off, before the horse fell backwards and landed on top of her.<\/p>\n

Paramedics assisted the woman before LifeFlight’s Land Rover Special Mission helicopter, which is temporarily based on the Sunshine Coast, was called about lunchtime.<\/p>\n

It landed on the road near where the incident occurred.<\/p>\n
