and increasing size of vehicles &#8211; it is an accident waiting to happen.<\/p>\n<p>Council and TMR will develop an interim response, including reinstating line marking and directional signs, to assist with traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>TMR will also examine whether the speed limit should be reduced from 60km\/h to 50km\/h on this section of Bunya Mountains Road.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69521\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69521\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140530lyrics3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-69521\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140530lyrics3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140530lyrics3.jpg 290w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140530lyrics3-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20140530lyrics3-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69521\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FLASHBACK: Former South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell with Bunya Mountains resident John Learmont<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Bunya Mountains resident John Learmont was presented with a certificate of appreciation at the recent BMCAI meeting after announcing his retirement as president of the association.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>John has been a member of the association since it was formed.<\/p>\n<p>He was elected treasurer in 2016 and president in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy president Ian Harris thanked John for his service and outstanding contributions to the association.<\/p>\n<p>Ian offered to take on the role of president until the next AGM in February next year.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>BMCAI is investigating the possibility of a establishing a Community Centre on the Bunya Mountains.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The association has prepared a document which has been distributed to members, local, State and Federal representatives and is being distributed to potential corporate sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>The first hurdle would be locating a suitable piece of land upon which to build the facility.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>BMCAI has received a South Burnett Regional Council community grant to buy a new laptop, printer and data projector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service has installed foot-washing stations at all track entrances in the Bunya Mountains National Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contractors are also currently replacing old bitumen paths near the QPWS office and campground.<\/p>\n<p>QPWS are in the early stages of planning a two-year capital works program to upgrade the major visitor areas in the park.
