The Check In Qld app must be displayed in taxis and rideshare vehicles from next Monday for customers to use<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The “Check In Qld” app will become compulsory for taxis, limousines and rideshare operators to display from next Monday (August 30).<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the recent case of a COVID-positive taxi driver in Cairns highlighted why the mandate was necessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first case in NSW\u2019s spiralling outbreak was a Bondi limousine driver who transported flight crews,” the Premier said.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially contained to Sydney\u2019s eastern suburbs it quickly spread into the city and the regions beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cExtending the reach of the Check In Qld app to taxis, limousines and ride share is purely and simply about safety.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect cases could pop up from time to time and our job is to get on to them as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a very tough situation at the moment and everything we are doing is to keep Queenslanders safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are nearly 20,000 limousine, taxi and booked hire vehicles working in Queensland.<\/p>\n

Customers can download the app from either the Google Play or Apple App store.<\/p>\n
