The 9th annual Coolabunia Classic Charolais Bull Sale last Thursday drew a yarding of 47 quality Charolais bulls, and set a new sales record.<\/p>\n

The top price paid on the day was for Lot 32, Charnelle Quartermaster \u2013 by a full French poll bull Johnny FR – which was sold for $26,000 to Bettafield Charolais Stud of Emerald.<\/p>\n

This year, four studs supplied bulls to the sale – Diamond L Charolais and Charbrays (Nanango), River Run Charolais (Linville), Silverwood Charolais (Nanango) and Charnelle Charolais (Lockyer Valley) – and all enjoyed good results.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The top price bull from Silverwood Stud was Lot 7, which was sold to Brisbane Valley volume buyer Maylake Pty Ltd for $18,000.<\/p>\n

Diamond L’s best prices came from Lots 18 and 52, which were both sold to Bill Campbell from Gin Gin for $12,000 each.<\/p>\n

The top price bull from River Run was Lot 9, which went to the Armstrong Family from St George for $16,000.<\/p>\n

And Charnelle Charolais made another major sale when four of their red factor bulls were purchased by Maylake Pty Ltd for an average $12,250 per beast.<\/p>\n

The auction was conducted by Aussie Land and Livestock (AL&L).<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It was very pleasing to see new buyers and strong support from repeat buyers,” AL&L’s Midge Thompson said.<\/p>\n

“Bulls were sold to as far north as Cloncurry, with others going to Central Queensland, the Southern Downs and south to Goondiwindi and St George.<\/p>\n

“Vendors supplied industry relevant bulls, which was reflected in their prices and clearance rate.”<\/p>\n

Overall, the sale enjoyed a 100 per cent clearance with an average sale price of $11,170.<\/p>\n

The 2021 BJF Limousin Invitational Bull and Female Sale held at Yarraman last Friday also produced record prices and what’s believed to be a new Australian record average for Limousin bull sales.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stud buyers were pushed to new highs for top quality bulls by strong bidding from commercial producers.<\/p>\n

The top price paid for a bull was for Lot 1, which was sold by the McCarthy family to Elbow Gully’s MidWay Stud for $19,500.<\/p>\n

The top price cow and calf was $13,000 and four embryo packages sold for $800 each to an online buyer.<\/p>\n

Led steers also topped at $2500 several times.<\/p>\n

The sale produced a 100 per cent clearance on the bulls (averaging $11,266) and females (averaging $6231).<\/p>\n

The auction was jointly conducted by Aussie Land & Livestock from Kingaroy; Bartholomew & Co from Beaudesert; and online via AuctionsPlus.<\/p>\n
