Murgon’s annual Music Muster has been cancelled this year due to concerns about the NSW pandemic.<\/p>\n

The iconic festival – which was planned for November 3-7 – would have featured a raft of well known country music stars, including headline acts Graeme Connors and Felicity Urquhart.<\/p>\n

However, NSW’s pandemic lockdown and uncertainty about travel and border arrangements over the next few months forced the decision.<\/p>\n

The Muster is organised by Murgon’s Rotary Club, and 2021 was to have been its eleventh outing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A spokesperson told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the decision was taken last week “with great reluctance”, but the group felt there was little choice.<\/p>\n

Many of the Muster’s performers and guests would have come from NSW, and were currently caught up in that State’s lockdowns.<\/p>\n

Even if the lockdowns were lifted in the next few months, there was no guarantee anyone from NSW would be allowed across the border until Queensland health officials were satisfied it was safe to do so.<\/p>\n

Because of the costs associated with cancelling the Muster – which only increase as the deadline draws closer – organisers felt it was best to pull the plug early.<\/p>\n

They noted this year’s Gympie Music Music and a smaller “mini-muster” planned for Kilkivan have both been cancelled for similar reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, they were hopeful the situation would be better in 2022 and were now looking at moving\u00a0 the Muster to late May to link in with Goomeri’s Pumpkin Festival.<\/p>\n

Dates for the 2022 Muster would be announced soon.<\/p>\n
