August 13, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry did not allow a little thing like a global pandemic from stopping their BaconFest window competition from going ahead.<\/p>\n

Sadly, COVID-19 restrictions did stop the actual festival but the KCCI encouraged shop owners to still go all out to add a Pork’n’Peanuts flavour to Kingaroy’s shop windows.<\/p>\n

And the businesses rose to the occasion!<\/p>\n

A small group of judges – including KCCI representatives, BaconFest committee members, councillors, Kingaroy police Inspector Chris Pemberton and CROW-FM breakfast announcer Shaz Birkett – wandered around the Kingaroy CBD on Friday morning to check out the displays.<\/p>\n

They encountered plenty of flying pigs – and many pork puns – and lots and lots of pink porkers and peanuts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The judging was tough.<\/p>\n

Many CBD businessed filled their windows, and even the Kingaroy TAFE College entered the competition!<\/p>\n

And the winner?<\/p>\n

The judges’ choice was unanimous …\u00a0Cake’A’Licious in Kingaroy Street stole the show.<\/p>\n

Owner\u00a0\u00a0Kate Rider even has a “spot the difference” competition running in conjunction with her display.<\/p>\n

The runner-up was Kay Apparel in Haly Street, whose mini Bacon Man stole the judges’ hearts.<\/p>\n
