Kingaroy residents will see fire trucks out and about on Saturday morning around Kingaroy Airport and lots of smoke<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

August 13, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy residents shouldn’t be worried if they see a lot of smoke coming from the direction of the Kingaroy Airport on Saturday morning (August 14).<\/p>\n

A large hazard reduction burn will be lit between 9:30am and 10:00am.<\/p>\n

About 18 fire trucks – both urban and rural – will be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Fire Station Officer\u00a0Bruce Groer said the hazard reduction burn would also be used as a pre-fire season training exercise.<\/p>\n

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said smoke may affect Taabinga Village and the southern side of Kingaroy during this time.<\/p>\n

Residents and businesses around the burn area are advised to take the following precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Remove washing from clothes lines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Ensure pets have a protected area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              • Sightseers must keep away from the burn zone for their own safety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                If you have asthma or other breathing difficulties, reduce outdoor activities.<\/p>\n
