The recent Farmers Day Out at Murgon has been hailed as a success after the Murgon Show Society received positive feedback from participants.<\/p>\n

Show Society volunteer Sharon Trim said more than 90 families came through the gate on the day.<\/p>\n

The aim was to provide some free fun for the community, and to reach out to farming families in the local area.<\/p>\n

The support services which set up stalls to share information were happy with the outreach they had achieved.<\/p>\n

The other good news was the day did not cost the Show Society very much to put on.<\/p>\n

“Most people volunteered their time or at very low cost just to cover expenses,” Sharon said,<\/p>\n

Connollys State Waste, from Cushnie, donated the portable toilets, and other donations were received for the free sample bags which were handed out.<\/p>\n

“The farmers that came also went into a prize draw and there was also a treasure hunt,” Sharon said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“All the prizes went to local farming families.”<\/p>\n

Sharon said the lawn mower racing had proven to be very popular, and the entertainers who came along were keen to come back.<\/p>\n

“I think people had a really good day out,” Sharon said.<\/p>\n

“A big thanks to Sandra and Lyndon Maroske who donated their time, machinery and prizes.”<\/p>\n

Sharon said she would also like to thank the sponsors: the National Recovery and Resilience Agency, Tarong Power Stations and Meandu Mines; Cr Kathy Duff and Deb Frecklington MP.<\/p>\n
