A number of South Burnett events that were due to go ahead this weekend have been cancelled or postponed due to the south-east Queensland COVID lockdowns.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Kingaroy Art Gallery’s<\/strong> August exhibition opening night, planned for Friday, has been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The “Impressions 15” exhibition features fine art prints, drawing and artists’ books from the Impress Printmakers Studio and Gallery in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

The opening night has been cancelled but the exhibition is going ahead and will be at the gallery until August 28.\u00a0 Entry is free.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The popular Nanango Markets<\/strong> – held on the first Saturday of every month at Nanango Showgrounds – have also been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The decision was announced by the Nanango Show Society on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Many of the regular stallholders come from areas that are still in lockdown.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Inverlaw Hall Dance<\/strong>, due to be held on Saturday night, has also been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The next dance at the hall is scheduled for September 4.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Joe’s Grand Hotel at Goomeri has had to cancel its live entertainment for Saturday night as the entertainer,\u00a0Bob Mouat<\/strong>, will still be in lockdown.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Murgon Markets<\/strong> – held on the second Sunday of every month in QEII Park in Lamb Street – have also been cancelled.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Nanango Theatre Company has confirmed that its NananGO PLAYfest<\/strong>\u00a0mini-festival of short plays – due to run this Friday, Saturday and Sunday – has been cancelled.<\/p>\n

Originally, the committee had hoped to reschedule the event for later in the year.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Also cancelled due to COVID restrictions have been:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  • Maidenwell\u00a0Chainsaw Post Rip<\/strong>, due to be held in September 24-26, has been cancelled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The Waterhole Rocks<\/strong>, due to be held at Nanango Showgrounds from October 14-17, has been cancelled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
