Restoration work at Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House has been completed, thanks to State Government funding and the South\u00a0Burnett Regional Council’s capital works program.<\/p>\n

The building\u2019s roof and flooring have been upgraded after Council inspections found signs of deterioration.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said short pieces of iron sheeting on the roof were not overlapping or secure, and roof screws and flashing were missing.\u00a0 This deterioration could have led to leaks during heavy rain.<\/p>\n

A new roof has been installed, retaining the character of the original iron roof, thanks to a\u00a0$115,747.16 grant from the State Government’s 2019-21 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.<\/p>\n

The wooden floors at Ringsfield House were sanded back and underwent minor repairs, including fixing timber cracks and replacing loose nails.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The floors were then resealed and varnished.<\/p>\n

These repairs were funded through the State Government\u2019s COVID Works for Queensland grants program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Palaszczuk Government is investing in regional Queensland, with programs like Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program and COVID Works for Queensland delivering infrastructure upgrades for communities like Nanango,\u201d\u00a0Assistant Minister for Local Government Nikki Boyd said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re teaming up with local councils to upgrade their infrastructure and deliver jobs as part of Queensland\u2019s\u00a0plan for economic recovery. These works are delivering locals jobs when they\u2019re needed most.”<\/p>\n

South Burnett mayor Brett Otto thanked the State Government for its assistance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOngoing support from the State Government is essential for the South Burnett Regional Council to continue to\u00a0maintain and extend the functional life of our historical assets,\u201d Mayor Otto said.<\/p>\n
