Yarraman Business Group has sought support from Toowoomba Regional Council to promote the idea of an aged care facility being developed in the town.<\/p>\n

Cr Megan O\u2019Hara Sullivan said she believed the idea was worth considering, and the group would be invited to attend a future Council meeting to discuss their vision.<\/p>\n

The TRC plans to undertake an audit soon of\u00a0vacant and under-utilised Council-owned land to identify opportunities across the region for generating social and economic benefit.<\/p>\n

Cr O\u2019Hara Sullivan, who moved the motion for the audit at Council’s July meeting, said it would be an important first step to help regional communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil has significant land assets in a variety of locations across the region,\u201d\u00a0 she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn some instances that land is currently under-utilised and may be surplus to Council\u2019s future operational or strategic requirements.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to assess whether any of that surplus land could potentially be used to assist with improving the viability of community projects that Council might wish to support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis would be incredibly important, especially for our regional areas such as Yarraman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Yarraman Business Group has prepared a strategy aimed at attracting an aged care\/assisted living provider to Yarraman and has sought Council\u2019s support in promoting the aged care\/assisted living opportunity to potential operators.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe this is an idea worth consideration and as such we will invite the Yarraman Business Group to a future meeting of Council to discuss their vision for an aged care centre being established in Yarraman.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
