Beach volleyballer Taliqua Clancy’s Tokyo Olympics campaign has begun strongly with a win in a preliminary round of the competition on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Clancy and her on-field partner Mariafe Artacho del Solar defeated Cuba’s Lidianny Echevarria Benitez and Leila Consuelo Martinez Ortega in two sets, 21-15 and 21-14.<\/p>\n

The Pool E preliminary match was played on centre court in the temporary stadium erected in Shiokaze Park on Tokyo Bay.<\/p>\n

The pair will next be in action on Wednesday night, when they take on Italy’s Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth in a second preliminary round.<\/p>\n

The quarter finals are due to be played on August 3-4, the semis on August 5 and the final (gold medal game) on August 6.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
