South Burnett artists and cultural workers will have the opportunity to undertake specialist training in “creative recovery” thanks to an innovative program.<\/p>\n

The Central Queensland Regional Arts Services Network (CQRASN) has partnered with the Creative Recovery Network to train up to 60 people across the Wide Bay and Burnett to use creativity to support their communities in difficult times.<\/p>\n

The training will provide participants with an understanding of how trauma impacts communities and the resources and skills required to support community project development after a disaster.<\/p>\n

Workshops will be held in Kingaroy, Mundubbera and Hervey Bay.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreativity can play a really significant role in the recovery of our communities when natural disasters strike,\u201d Creative Recovery Network executive officer Scotia Monkivitch said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe arts are a very powerful connector, and it can really help people to heal from trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n

CQRASN Regional Arts Project Officer Trudie Leigo said CQRASN was thrilled to be bringing the 2.5 day immersive training program to the Wide Bay and Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is such important training,\u201d Ms Leigo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt trains participants in essential leadership and facilitation skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreative people can be a real asset when a community is hurting.\u201d<\/p>\n

This training has been made possible thanks to funding from Round 2 of the Category C Queensland Bushfires Flexible Funding Grants program, a joint Federal \/ State initiative aimed at driving recovery and building resilience.<\/p>\n

The project is also being supported by the Fraser Coast, South Burnett and North Burnett regional councils.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be held in Kingaroy on August 27-29.<\/p>\n
