Queenslanders have been urged to reconsider any plans to leave the State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NSW outbreak is very concerning and we\u2019ve declared Victoria a hotspot,\u201d Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like all Queenslanders to strongly consider their need to leave the State right now; particularly anyone over the age of 70 who is not vaccinated, now is not the time to leave Queensland.”<\/p>\n

Queenslanders who have left Victoria the past 14 days have also been urged to check the list of interstate exposure venues.<\/p>\n

Dr Young said the number of COVID-19 cases were increasing outside of Greater Melbourne, particularly on Phillip Island.<\/p>\n

Queensland declared all of Victoria a COVID-19 hotspot from 1:00am on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has been to Victoria will not be allowed to enter Queensland unless they are a returning Queensland resident, except for a limited range of people who can enter for an essential purpose.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Delta variant is a particular concern \u2013 we can see it\u2019s spread has been rapid between linked cases, and with hundreds of interstate exposure venues currently listed, it\u2019s critical that anyone who\u2019s been interstate is checking the website daily,” she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve always asked people to check the website, and we\u2019ve had a specific requirement attached to the travel declaration to check the website for 14 days since arriving back in Queensland.<\/p>\n

“But we’ll be clarifying in our public health directions that we need people to do it every 24 hours.<\/p>\n

“Interstate arrivals should also expect to receive an SMS reminder about checking the site.”<\/p>\n

\u201cPick a time of the day that you\u2019re going to check the website, set yourself a reminder.<\/p>\n

“Anyone who has been interstate in the past 14 days will be required to check the Queensland Health contact tracing site every 24 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Young said there were also new Queensland contact tracing sites, which have been added to the Queensland Health website (see links, below).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd please, anyone in Queensland right now that has any\u00a0COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, immediately get tested.\u201d<\/p>\n
