Barry Lonsdale’s Discount Drug Store pharmacy in Nanango is one of the first chemist shops across Queensland given the green light to administer a COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

And since the pharmacy started administering the AstraZeneca vaccine on June 14, at least 340 people have taken the opportunity to receive the free immunisation at the Fitzroy Street store.<\/p>\n

Barry said extending the rollout to pharmacies had been needed because many people had been facing delays in getting vaccinated.<\/p>\n

“This is making it easier for people to get it,” he said.<\/p>\n

“As soon as we can get a large part of the population vaccinated we can get out of this crisis.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 60s are invited to book in for a vaccination shot by phoning the Discount Drug Store pharmacy on (07) 4163-1631.<\/p>\n

The store will also book in the second shot for 12 weeks later.<\/p>\n

The Discount Drug Store in Nanango is the first chemist in the South Burnett to administer the shots – and one of the first 49 in Queensland – but it won’t be the last.<\/p>\n

More pharmacies will be coming on line over the next couple of weeks, including Barry’s other store in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n
