Many South Burnett businesses – including shopping centres and supermarkets – should now be registered with the Check In Qld app.<\/p>\n

Use of the app by customers became mandatory for many types of businesses at 1:00am on Friday (July 9).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Businesses that must now use the app include hairdressers, beauty services, gyms, indoor pools, caravan parks,\u00a0customer service counters in galleries, museums, libraries and community centres; weddings, funerals and places of worship (if indoor); TAFEs and universities.<\/p>\n

It is also compulsory at indoor events, such as cultural festivals and expos; and outdoor events, such as fun runs and fetes.<\/p>\n

Visitors, volunteers and contractors must also check in at hospitals, residential aged care facilities and disability service accommodation.<\/p>\n

Shoppers must check in when entering a shopping centre, and when entering businesses within the centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Data is held by the State Government for 56 days, and will assist with contact tracing in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Yvette D\u2019Ath said during the past two weeks an extra 77,000 businesses signed up for the app and there had been more than 32 million check-ins.<\/p>\n

That brings the total number of businesses using the app to more than 128,000, and total check-ins using the app to more than 97 million.<\/p>\n

“We are in an enviable position because of the sacrifices made by Queenslanders, so let\u2019s continue this good work and get everybody using this fantastic check-in app,” Ms D\u2019Ath said.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s not too much to ask for more freedom. We want life to go back to as normal as possible and I think this is a very small request.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s an incredibly straight forward process. Once the business is set up, they don\u2019t need to do anything else other than check that their customer has logged in.”<\/p>\n

Previously, the Check In Qld app was only a requirement for the hospitality sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n
