Residents who attended a recent information session about the redevelopment of the cricket oval in River Road Park have supported the project, according to the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Council and the Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association held the information session on June 12 at the Kingaroy park site.<\/p>\n

The proposal is to install fencing around the cricket oval area and redevelop the practice nets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said 75 homes were “letterbox dropped” before the information session, as well as information sent out via mainstream media and social media.<\/p>\n

“Residents provided valuable feedback on the project proposal and current issues regarding the maintenance and security of the park,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“All attendees conveyed their support of the Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association utilising the space and felt the project would encourage community members to use the space for recreational cricket activities and mitigate some of the anti-social behaviour that occurs in the park.”<\/p>\n

Cr Danita Potter said the information session had provided an opportunity for Council to engage with residents to ensure any concerns could be raised.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Junior Cricket Association has received funding from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund and Round 108 of the Community Benefit Fund to undertake the installation of the cricket nets.<\/p>\n
