More than 8000 Queensland land lessees in drought-declared areas will receive a 12-month deferral on paying their annual land rent.<\/p>\n

Resources Minister Scott Stewart said about 65 per cent of Queensland was officially drought declared and giving eligible landholders more time to pay their bills was a small way the State Government could help.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than $26.5 million in annual land rent is being deferred for primary production leases, licences and permits in the drought declared areas for the next 12 months,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the wet season has brought needed relief for some areas of Queensland, there are still 40 local governments drought-declared.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are more than 8000 primary producers on leased State land in the drought declared areas that won\u2019t have to pay their land rent until July 1, 2022,\u201d<\/p>\n

Land rent relief applies to businesses, farmers and individuals that hold a lease, licence or permit to occupy for primary production purposes on State land.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
