A fundraiser with a difference was held in Nanango on Saturday … a garden party, complete with live music, exquisite nibblies, a fashion parade and lots of ladies wearing red hats.<\/p>\n

Local chapters of the women’s social group, The Red Hat Society, turned out in force with other local community members to support the NANART event.<\/p>\n

NANART, or Nanango Art Festival Inc, holds an annual three-day arts festival every year at the Cultural Centre in Nanango.<\/p>\n

This year’s event will run from May 10 (the official opening) to May 12.<\/p>\n

NANART was looking for a way to raise some extra money so member Carol Young and her husband Nigel volunteered to use the gardens of their home, ‘Benneyong’.<\/p>\n

“It was a good afternoon,” Nigel told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> today.<\/p>\n

“We had 53 people through the gate and we raised $795, which included the takings from the raffle.<\/p>\n

“This was our first garden party and it was so successful we may hold another at some time.”<\/p>\n

Local singers Bobby Ricks and Valerie Mathews entertained the guests, who also enjoyed a fashion parade put on by Nanango business\u00a02Extreemz Fashion.<\/p>\n

Nigel said the members of The Red Hat Society also seemed to have a good time.<\/p>\n

“They said that if we held another, they’d come along again,” he said.<\/p>\n

The annual NANART festival has been held every year since 2000.<\/p>\n
