{"id":301209,"date":"2021-06-23T11:57:44","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T01:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=301209"},"modified":"2021-06-23T19:37:30","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T09:37:30","slug":"more-council-hotspots-in-nsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2021\/06\/23\/more-council-hotspots-in-nsw\/","title":{"rendered":"More Council &#8216;Hotspots&#8217; In NSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>June 23, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Queensland Health has declared six more Council areas in Sydney as COVID-19 hotspots following the rapid spread of the Delta variant.<\/p>\n<p>Confirmed cases in the Sydney area have risen to more than 30, including 13 new cases reported since 8:00pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>From 1:00am on Thursday (June 24) the Local Government Areas of City of Sydney, Woollahra, Bayside, Canada Bay, Inner West and Randwick will be declared hotspots.<\/p>\n<p>The Waverley LGA has been a hotspot since June 19.<\/p>\n<p>From 1:00am on Thursday, anyone who has been in any of these LGAs will not be allowed to enter Queensland unless they are a returning Queensland resident, except for a limited range of people who can enter for an essential purpose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anyone who is allowed to enter Queensland from these locations will be required to go into 14 days mandatory hotel quarantine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said Queensland was continuing to take a cautious approach as positive cases increased in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recent cases in Sydney are very concerning due to many of these cases being infected by fleeting contact,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The number of exposure sites is also rapidly increasing, with more than 120 exposure sites currently listed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Delta variant is much more contagious than other variants and we do not want it circulating in Queensland.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Queenslanders have been encouraged to reconsider non-essential travel to Greater Sydney and surrounding regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is further spread into NSW, we may have to extend border restrictions into more local government areas,\u201d Dr Young said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>External links:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qld.gov.au\/health\/conditions\/health-alerts\/coronavirus-covid-19\/current-status\/contact-tracing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact Tracing &#8211; Queensland<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/Infectious\/covid-19\/Pages\/case-locations-and-alerts.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact Tracing &#8211; NSW<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>UPDATE:\u00a0\u00a0Queensland Health has added all Local Government Areas within Greater Sydney, the NSW Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour to the 1:00am hotspot declaration on Thursday.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has been in any of these council areas will not be allowed to enter Queensland unless they are a returning Queensland resident, except for a limited range of people who can enter for an essential purpose. People who can enter Queensland will need to complete 14 days quarantine in government-arranged accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>The hotspot declaration will not be backdated.
