The capsule sees the light of day again with the help of a digger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

April 16, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

A lot can change in 15 years … just ask the former students of Kingaroy’s Abundant Life Christian School.<\/p>\n

Fifteen years ago they planted a time capsule at their school – later known as the Kingaroy Christian College – in Youngman Street.<\/p>\n

But these days the school has disappeared and the site is part of a farm machinery yard belonging to Kingaroy Equipment Sales.<\/p>\n

The students got together on Saturday for a reunion and thought it would be good idea to dig up the old capsule.<\/p>\n

And Kingaroy Equipment Sales were pleased to help.<\/p>\n

In a private ceremony on the premises, a digger carefully dug up the hidden treasure.<\/p>\n

The students then took it down the road to the South Burnett Ministries Building where it was officially opened as part of the reunion celebrations, which also included a barbecue and light refreshments.<\/p>\n

About 50 people watched as the capsule was opened.<\/p>\n

Reunion organiser Tanya Susidko said former students Graham Badrick and \u00a0Melanie Hood (nee Richards) were present when the capsule was originally buried on April 24, 1994, and John Newport was a teacher at the time.<\/p>\n

The trio returned for the re-opening.<\/p>\n

And what was inside? \u00a0An old telephone, credit cards, driver’s licence, a paper $2 note, photos, uniforms, a correctional rod, a long stapler, a video tape, an audio tape, a jar of peanuts, pencils, rulers, a \u00a0newspaper, school work books, craft items, an old school letterhead and … a floppy disc.<\/p>\n

Some things really have changed!<\/p>\n
