It’s taken almost three years but five community groups have finally been presented with pushbikes being held by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Council secured 15 Merida Big Nine bicycles following the successful State Government “Get on Your Bikes” program on the South Burnett Rail Trail in July 2018.<\/p>\n

Initially, Council experimented with a bicycle hire scheme, but that proved unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

In 2019, it was decided the bikes would\u00a0for offered for free to any community group that wanted to start a bicycle hire service.<\/p>\n

That idea also fell over.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, not-for-profit community groups were invited to submit an expression of interest to receive the bikes.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said seven applications were received.<\/p>\n
