The State Government has invited feedback on the future of a section of the New England Highway just south of Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

Assistant Regional Roads Minister Bruce Saunders said the planning project would investigate future infrastructure requirements between Cambooya Connection Road and Greenmount-Clifton Road, such as widening the highway for wide centre lines and additional overtaking lanes.<\/p>\n

“We are inviting residents and road users to voice any issues about the highway including potential safety and efficiency improvements,” Mr Saunders said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOptions for improving this 6.8km section of the New England Highway will be shared with local property owners as part of building a business case for future infrastructure upgrades.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will look at potential safety enhancements, reviewing the intersection with Greenmount-Etonvale Road and upgrading the culvert at Emu Creek.<\/p>\n

\u201cIssues such as the road condition and width, a lack of overtaking opportunities, intersection locations and configurations, and Emu Creek culvert’s susceptibility to extreme floods, will be on the table.<\/p>\n

Mr Saunders said it formed part of broader upgrades on New England Highway.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWork is also under way on a $24.5 million widening project between Cooyar and Bum Bum Creek,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat project is creating 57 jobs as Queensland\u2019s economic recovery ramps up.<\/p>\n

“Now we\u2019re looking forward to hearing from the community on what they want done between Cambooya Connection Road and Greenmount-Clifton Road.\u201d<\/p>\n
