Neither Blackbutt nor Kilkivan will get its own ambulance station at any time soon, Health Minister Yvonne D’Ath has confirmed.<\/p>\n

In a Question On Notice to the Minister, Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington asked if the two towns met the criteria to be considered for an ambulance station.<\/p>\n

Kilkivan is located on the Wide Bay Highway, while Blackbutt is on the D’Aguilar Highway near the Blackbutt Range.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington also asked if Blackbutt and Kilkivan do not meet the criteria for an ambulance station of their own, what other services could be provided, eg. more ambulances based in Murgon and Yarraman.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Mrs D’Ath replied stating she had been\u00a0advised the current level of resourcing for Blackbutt and Kilkivan areas was considered appropriate, based on demand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The\u00a0community of Blackbutt is supported by the Yarraman Ambulance Station, which\u00a0provides 24-hour coverage, seven days a week,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

“The Kilkivan community is supported\u00a0by ambulance stations at Gympie and Murgon, which provide 24-hour coverage,\u00a0seven days a week for the communities and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

“The Kilkivan\u00a0community is further supported by the QAS First Responder Group.<\/p>\n

“The QAS continues to monitor demand and service delivery for Queensland\u00a0communities and assign resources as required to ensure delivery of timely, quality\u00a0and appropriate, patient-focused ambulance services.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
