Mulled wine and pumpkin soup … what better way to welcome in winter on a cool Kingaroy night?<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Art Team turned on the winter warmers for the official opening of the Queensland Winter Craft Festival on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The festival will be filling the gallery and surrounds for the next two months.<\/p>\n

As well as exhibitions in all the gallery spaces, there are various demonstrations scheduled as well as limited-number hands-on workshops.<\/p>\n

For June,\u00a0 the Alpaca Collective has taken over Gallery 1 with its\u00a0\u201cFarm To Fashion Isolation Creations\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Red Earth Ruggers have taken over the walls in Gallery 2 with \u201cWhat\u2019s Old Is New Again\u201d, an exhibition of various forms of rugmaking, knitting and crochet.<\/p>\n

Well-known Goomeri potter Fay Stumm, who has been working for the past few years with Cherbourg artists, has filled Gallery 3 with her own works. <\/p>\n

Her\u00a0\u201cFrozen Garden\u201d is made up of small and large sculptures.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto officially opened the festival, saying it added to the richness of the South Burnett’s culture.<\/p>\n

“The general public sometimes doesn’t appreciate the extent of the creativity across the region,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We should be proud that Kingaroy is the place where the Queensland Winter Craft Festival is launched.”<\/p>\n
