Applications are now open for “Networks to Build Drought Resilience” grants, a joint program being delivered by the\u00a0Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR).<\/p>\n

A total of $4.5 million is available – an investment of\u00a0$3.375 million from the Federal Government topped up with $1.125 million from FRRR.<\/p>\n

Community groups can apply for grants for community capacity-building projects which support drought resilience.<\/p>\n

The grants will be offered in two funding rounds.<\/p>\n

The Networks to Build Drought Resilience program aims to support community organisations, networks and infrastructure that help people and communities prepare for, and live through, times of drought.<\/p>\n

The program will fund events, activities, training and small-scale infrastructure that assist communities to build their capacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

FRRR CEO Natalie Egleton said local community networks were the foundation of resilient communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this program we\u2019re helping to invest in the future of agriculture-dependent regions by enabling them to prepare now for periods of ongoing dryness,\u201d Ms Egleton said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA key element of this program will be to build stronger networks, and to encourage greater sharing of learnings and more collaboration within and across networks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applications close at 5:00pm AEST on July 5.<\/p>\n

Recipients will be announced in October.<\/p>\n
