Free COVID-19 vaccinations are now available for eligible community members at the\u00a0Nanango Discount Drug Store in Fitzroy Street.<\/p>\n

The pharmacy is included in a list of community pharmacies, released by the Federal Government on Monday, where COVID vaccinations will now be offered.<\/p>\n

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia welcomed the announcement, saying Queensland would be the first State to offer COVID vaccinations at pharmacies.<\/p>\n

Pharmacy Guild acting Branch President\u00a0Chris Owen\u00a0said Queensland was again leading the way nationally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u201cThe Federal and State Government have shown great leadership in ensuring Queensland pharmacies would be able to make sure communities across Queensland would have access to the COVID-19 vaccines,” Mr Owen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinister for Regional Health Minister (Mark) Coulton understands many Queenslanders don\u2019t have easy access to other primary healthcare services or local GP clinics.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity pharmacies are highly accessible with 97 per cent of consumers in capital cities and 65 per cent in regional areas living within 2.5km of a pharmacy.<\/p>\n

“Pharmacies are also the most frequently visited primary healthcare destinations, and staff are well placed for significant interactions with members of the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the need to vaccinate as many Queenslanders as quickly as possible and the decentralised nature of our State, we thank the Federal Government for leading the way and ensuring that as frontline primary healthcare professionals, community pharmacies are part of the solution.”<\/p>\n
