Flying foxes roosting in trees near houses along Taromeo Creek in Blackbutt earlier this year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

June 4, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

A community information session will be held in Blackbutt on June 17 to discuss residents’ concerns about flying foxes roosting near town.<\/p>\n

The session, organised by the\u00a0South Burnett Regional Council will be held from 5:30pm at the Blackbutt Golf Club, 51 Langton Road.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto, councillors and Council CEO Mark Pitt will be attending.<\/p>\n

Dr Darren Fielder, from Redleaf Environmental, will discuss the findings of a Flying Fox Roost Management Review commissioned by Council.<\/p>\n

Representatives from Queensland Health and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries will be available to discuss human and animal health concerns associated with flying foxes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil takes South Burnett residents\u2019 concerns seriously. Community information sessions are a valuable platform to speak directly with them and generate actions towards long-term solutions in the best interests of our region,\u201d Mayor Otto said.<\/p>\n
