The Nanango attack was mesmerising the Gunners’ defence and midfield and in the 4th minute Kieran Mangan sliced through a fickle defence to score their first.

This started and avalanche of goals for Nanango coming from Kieran Mangan, Justin Mangan and Nick Krautz and it was 4-0 to Nanango after 10 minutes.

Gunners had completely lost their shape and could not get off the back foot.

Justin Mangan, who was in magnificent form, scored two more to complete his hat-trick in the 21st and 25th minutes.

Nanango continued to attack but Gunners did well to repel them and started playing some of their own football and managed to go to the break without conceding any more.

After being down 6-0 at the break, most teams would have capitulated and let their heads drop, but this Gunners side has a lot of spirit.

Gunners started to take the game to Nanango, playing a lot smarter in the second half. Nanango were frustrated that they couldn’t keep snowballing the score line and their discipline dropped (and after all they were 6-0 up).

Gunners had a few opportunities to score but the Nanango defence was equal to the task in hand. It wasn’t until five minutes before full time that Nanango scored again through David Ashby.

The highlights of this game were the intensity Nanango showed at the outset and how Gunners improved immensely in the second half.

Best for Nanango were Justin Mangan and Nick Krautz, and Elliot Mangan was strong in defence.

For Gunners, Sam Murray and Bailey Raines played their hearts out. It must also be noted that Gunners had a few of their better players away this week.

* * *

In the Women’s game, Nanango beat a nine-player Gunnettes 2-0.

Nanango were on the attack from the start however Gunnettes repelled the Nanango attack time after time and managed to hold them out until half time.

The second half was much the same as the first. Gunnettes made a few forays into Nanango’s territory through Kristy Learmont but to no avail.

Nanango was knocking the ball around very nicely but could not finish until Raegan Campbell eventually broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half.

Ten minutes later Jacqui Downie sealed Gunnettes’ fate to give Nanango a well deserved 2-0 win.

Best for Nanango were Jacqui Downie, Cassie Kelly and Glenda Thompson.

Chrissy McBride worked tirelessly in the Gunnettes’ backline.

* * *

Gunners never gave up in their 2nd Division match, making Nanango work for their goals

The Second Division game turned out to be a very entertaining match.
