Students attending St John\u2019s in Kingaroy will have the opportunity in\u00a0November to work with one of Queensland\u2019s most exciting contemporary artists.<\/p>\n

Simone Eisler will conduct a series of workshops at both the Lutheran kindy and school as part of a week-long artist-in-residence program.<\/p>\n

Ms Eisler was one of nine artists who featured in the recent “Botanica – Contemporary Art\u00a0Outside” exhibition in Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.<\/p>\n

Her work has been shown across Australia and she has exhibited internationally in cities\u00a0including New York, Paris and Berlin.<\/p>\n

St John\u2019s principal Karyn Bjelke-Petersen said the week would provide a wonderful\u00a0opportunity for students to learn from an expert.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be exciting for our students to work alongside such an experienced artist,\u201d Ms Bjelke-Petersen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some incredibly creative students who attend our school and I know they\u2019ll find\u00a0Ms Eisler\u2019s work with natural materials inspirational. I can\u2019t wait to see what they produce.\u201d<\/p>\n

St John\u2019s Lutheran Kindergarten service leader Jenny Christensen said teaching about\u00a0the creative process had long been a focus for the kindy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the Jumping Ants Art collective for a number of\u00a0years now and this intensive week with Simone will be an opportunity to further explore the way artists work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Eisler is originally from Brisbane but recently moved to Kin Kin.<\/p>\n

She said she was looking\u00a0forward to visiting Kingaroy and exploring the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a reasonably quiet 2020, this year has been busy with a variety of interesting\u00a0exhibitions and workshops,\u201d Ms Eisler said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpending time in Kingaroy with kindy and primary school students will be a refreshing way\u00a0to wrap up the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really enjoy making art with children, they find possibilities in everything and they\u2019re so\u00a0uninhibited in the way they work.\u201d<\/p>\n

The workshops will be funded in part by the South Burnett Regional Council\u2019s Community\u00a0Grants program.<\/p>\n
