Murgon detectives are investigating the alleged incident at Murgon State High School on Monday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

June 1, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police are investigating after a number of students at Murgon State High School suffered needlestick injuries on Monday.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said preliminary information suggested the students, mostly aged 13, were pricked with a device used for finger blood tests by a 13-year-old boy.<\/p>\n

The affected students received first aid and were advised to seek further medical testing.<\/p>\n

Queensland Ambulance Service personnel also attended to provide assistance.<\/p>\n

Detectives from Murgon CIB are investigating, with the assistance of Education Queensland.<\/p>\n

An Education Queensland spokesperson confirmed\u00a0the QAS and police were called to assist with the incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Affected students received first aid at the school and all parents were contacted.<\/p>\n

“Like all Queensland State schools, Murgon State High School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“The school will continue to work closely with Queensland Health and follow their advice.<\/p>\n

“The school is also assisting Queensland Police Service in their investigations.<\/p>\n

“Parents have been encouraged to seek further medical testing of their children at their local GP or hospital as a precaution.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The incident will be dealt with in line with the student Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n

“Guidance and counselling is available for any student requiring support.<\/p>\n

“No further details can be provided due to student privacy issues.”<\/p>\n
