Queensland has declared all Victoria a COVID-19 hotspot following confirmation there are now 26 active cases in that State.<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made the announcement on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

From 1:00am on Friday, anyone travelling to Queensland who has been in Victoria during the past 14 days will have to go into hotel quarantine in either Brisbane or Cairns.<\/p>\n

Travellers who are not a Queensland resident will be turned around at the border, unless they have an exemption to enter Queensland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police will be on hand to check people who arrive on interstate flights and will be doing random checks of motorists at NSW road borders.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has been in Victoria and arrived in Queensland after 1:00am on Thursday and before 1:00am on Friday must observe the same lockdown provisions as they would if they were still in Victoria.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath urged anyone who has been in Victoria during the past fortnight to continue checking the Victorian exposure site list as it is is being constantly updated.<\/p>\n

“It is imperative if you have been to any of those venues that you do quarantine and go and get tested,” Minister D’Ath said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contact tracers in Victoria have already identified 10,000 primary and secondary contacts linked to the latest cases.<\/p>\n

The Victorian Government announced a seven-day lockdown from midnight on Thursday in a bid to curb the outbreak.<\/p>\n
