Frontline workers in the Kingaroy area have benefited from a surplus of the COVID-19 vaccine at\u00a0Orana Aged Care.<\/p>\n

A Lutheran Services’ spokesperson said a number of doses remained after all eligible Orana Aged Care residents and frontline staff received their inoculation recently, as per Department of Health protocols.<\/p>\n

Not wanting to see the much-needed vaccine go to waste, Orana service manager Kym Zischke reached out to other frontline workers in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

After many phone calls, staff from local medical practices, pharmacies and police fronted up to Orana to receive their first dose.<\/p>\n

Not one vial of vaccine was wasted.<\/p>\n

“The care and professionalism of the clinical team that came to Orana was amazing,” Ms Zischke said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They communicated and dealt with our residents beautifully.<\/p>\n

“Everyone was closely monitored. It was a very thorough and well-supported operation. Everything went like clockwork. It\u2019s great to have completed our first round.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Orana doses were part of the\u00a0Phase 1A vaccination roll-out so\u00a0only aged care residents and Orana staff – as well as frontline workers – were eligible to receive the vaccine.<\/p>\n

Orana\u2019s Independent Living residents are separate to aged care residents, so fall under Phase 1B and 2A of the Federal Government’s rollout plan, depending on their age.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
