Anyone arriving in Queensland from 1:00am on Friday – and who have visited any of the sites in Sydney linked to the latest COVID-19 cases – must enter mandatory hotel quarantine.<\/p>\n

Anyone in Queensland prior to 1:00am on Friday who has been to any of the NSW sites during the risk period should quarantine at their home or accommodation, call 13 HEALTH (13-43-25-84) and get a COVID-19 test.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath announced the new restrictions on Thursday morning, following the confirmation of two new cases of community transmission in Sydney.<\/p>\n

The NSW locations<\/a> include sites across Sydney from the inner city to the Eastern and Southern suburbs and Northern Beaches.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We also understand this list of venues is likely to be increased so anyone who has been in NSW since April 27, we ask this of you – if you have any symptoms whatsoever, please get tested,” Ms D’Ath said.<\/p>\n

Other States are invoking similar restrictions on anyone who has visited any of the listed NSW venues.<\/p>\n

NSW has introduced new restrictions in the Greater Sydney region (including Wollongong, the Central Coast and Blue Mountains) from noon on Thursday to 12:01am on Monday.<\/p>\n

These include reintroducing masks on public transport and in shops; banning singing indoors (including places of worship); and limiting visitors to private households (20) and aged care facilities (2),<\/p>\n

The latest restrictions follow a man in his 50s – with no contact to quarantine hotels or overseas travellers – testing positive to COVID-19 on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His wife has now also tested positive although other close contacts have tested negative so far.<\/p>\n

How the man caught the disease is unknown but he has the same strain as a traveller who arrived from the United States and tested positive in quarantine.<\/p>\n

This traveller was moved to Special Health\u00a0Accommodation in Sydney on April 28.<\/p>\n
