The cast of Nanango Theatre Company’s latest production “Play On!” delivers a fast-paced, entertaining and unusual comedy that’s guaranteed to keep audiences laughing right up to the final curtain<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The trials of an amateur theatre group trying to stage a murder mystery when the play’s author keeps changing the script kept a dress rehearsal audience in stitches Thursday night.<\/p>\n

“Play On!” – the Nanango Theatre Company’s latest production – opened officially on Friday, and will run on weekends at the group’s Elk Street playhouse over the next fortnight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An ensemble cast of nine performers (some veterans, some new) keep this three-act comedy moving along at a brisk pace.<\/p>\n

However, it may take viewers a little while to get used to the unusual format which sees some actors – such as “director” Brad Boynton and “playwright” Anne Davoren – performing both on stage and in the audience at various times during the show.<\/p>\n

Audiences will also be impressed by the talent of the performers, who manage to make their hilarious and deliberate stumbles and fumbles look quite natural.<\/p>\n

“Play On!” had already sold 200 tickets by Friday’s opening night and at less than 50 patrons per session, fans of live theatre will need to book quickly or risk missing out.<\/p>\n

The NTC has eight performances of “Play On” scheduled, including matinees and wine and cheese nights:<\/strong><\/p>\n
