Darling Downs Health is calling on South Burnett residents to have their say to help shape the future of healthcare services in the region.<\/p>\n

At this week\u2019s Regional Consumer Consultative Committee annual workshop, Darling Downs Health chief executive Dr Peter Gillies said involving consumers was a key component of quality healthcare.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people in our communities are at the heart of everything we do and that\u2019s why we\u2019re always looking for new opportunities to partner with our consumers in their care,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to constantly improve the services we provide and make sure that those services are aligned with what our communities want.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in a community with a lot of diversity, so we\u2019d love to see more representation by consumers with different backgrounds and experiences of health.\u201d<\/p>\n

The workshop also featured Health Consumers Queensland CEO Melissa Fox.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI was delighted to be invited to facilitate today\u2019s workshop,\u201d Ms Fox said<\/p>\n

\u201cI applaud Darling Downs Health and the consumers who partner with them, for coming together with the aim of working together to improve the health outcomes and experience of care for people in your region.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Gillies said there were plenty of opportunities to become involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAcross the region, Darling Downs Health has more than 50 committees and advisory groups looking for consumer input,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsumer contributions can come in many forms, including things like providing feedback on fact sheets, brochures or other materials; helping us evaluate a model of care; providing advice on changing or designing new facilities; helping to plan community events, just to name a few.<\/p>\n
