Bunya Red Farm at Inverlaw has again been recognised for its unique produce, named a Queensland winner by a national magazine.<\/p>\n

Allan and Mandy Evans grow capers, used widely in Mediterranean dishes.<\/p>\n

For the third time, the Evans’ capers in salt have been recognised as a State finalist in Delicious magazine’s produce awards, sponsored by Harvey Norman.<\/p>\n

They were also Queensland finalists in 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n

“We are pleased to see we made the cut, again!” Allan said.<\/p>\n

“It has been a difficult year with variable weather conditions playing havoc with the caper harvest.”<\/p>\n

Bunya Red Farm has picked up several other awards over the years, including Gold awards at the 2013 Sydney Royal Show and 2017 Australian Food Awards for its capers in salt, and Bronze awards at the Sydney Show in 2014 and 2015 for its caperberries in white wine vinegar.<\/p>\n

Goombungee’s Shultz Family Farms have also been named State finalists in the 2021 Delicious produce awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fifth generation pig producers were recognised for their free-range heritage pork.<\/p>\n

The State winners\u2019 produce will now go on to be tasted by a national judging panel in May to decide the 2021 Gold Medal winners, Trophy winners and Special Award winners.<\/p>\n
