Stanwell CEO Richard Van Breda is leaving the corporation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Stanwell chief executive officer Richard Van Breda has resigned from the corporation.<\/p>\n

Board chairman\u00a0Paul Binsted announced Mr Van Breda’s shock resignation on Friday, just days after media fallout over comments made by Mr Van Breda at this week’s Central Queensland Energy Futures Summit in Gladstone.<\/p>\n

He will leave Stanwell at the end of May.<\/p>\n

Mr Van Breda was appointed CEO at Stanwell in July 2012 after the restructure of the State Government-owned electricity generator.<\/p>\n

He had been acting in the role since January that year.<\/p>\n

Mr Van Breda\u00a0 joined Stanwell in 2002 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2005. He joined Tarong Energy\u00a0Corporation in the role of Chief Financial Officer in April 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cRichard has led Stanwell through many challenges,\u201d Mr Binsted said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cUnder his leadership Stanwell has consistently achieved a strong financial performance, earned the trust of its people and host communities, in both Rockhampton and the South Burnett, and positioned itself as a key participant in the energy market of the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring Richard\u2019s 20 years of leadership within the Queensland energy sector he has played a key role in planning for the future of the industry, both through his roles at Tarong Energy and Stanwell and as a non-executive director of the Australian Energy Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Board thanks Richard for his leadership, hard work and great contribution to making Stanwell the successful business it is today.\u201d<\/p>\n
