Gardeners – obviously suffering Garden Expo withdrawals! – were keen to head back to Wondai at the weekend to make up for lost time.<\/p>\n

Both the Autumn and Spring expos were cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, sadly at a time when many people were spending more time at home in their gardens.<\/p>\n

Visitors and stallholders made up for it at the weekend, with a strong turnout for the 2021 Autumn Expo.<\/p>\n

Wondai Garden Expo Committee president Helen Young said 65 stallholders booked in.<\/p>\n

As usual, there were displays inside the Lions Pavilion while outside, stalls stretched around the boundary of the Wondai Sportsground Oval.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto, accompanied by Cr Kathy Duff, officially opened the Expo on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He congratulated Helen and her team of volunteers for putting on another great event.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, COVID-19 did scuttle one competition usually held in Wondai to coincide with the Autumn Garden Expo … the South Burnett Orchid Society’s annual show at the Wondai Diggers Club was cancelled.<\/p>\n

However, Orchid Club members took over one corner of the Lions Pavilion to put on a colourful display.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Spring Garden Expo will be held at the Wondai Sportsground on September 25-26.<\/p>\n
